I’m Rachel Gales

A Dog Trainer (accredited with the IMDT) and educated Dog Behaviourist. I have a distinction in an ABTC recognised Canine Behaviour course (Level 5) with Compass Education. I also have a specialist interest in aggressive behaviours and have studied aggression in extensive detail, for an entire year, with veterinary behaviourist Dr Amber Batson.

I actively keep myself up to date with modern scientific research on canine behaviour by attending various courses, webinars and conferences. This means that you benefit from the considerable depth and breadth of knowledge that I have when you work with me.

You can be sure that

You and your dog will be in kind and safe hands with me.

In January 2019, I was fortunate enough to start volunteering on a weekly basis at Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare with the Kennels Team. I love it! I also have the privilege of being a Trustee at the RSPCA Brighton and Sussex North Branch where I get to oversee the Rescue Centre and make a strategic difference to animal welfare.

You can be 100% sure that I’m never going to recommend or endorse anything that will compromise your dog’s welfare or hurt them. I am clear on my views and underlying ethics – I have seen, first hand, the devastating results of bad advice and abusive methods. I am really committed to treating dogs as the incredible, sentient beings they are.

How can you be sure that I genuinely understand how hard it can be?

Because I’ve been there myself, with my incredible rescue dog Rebel. She didn’t have the best start in life, so struggled with a number of different behaviour problems. She has progressed a huge amount since then - I am immensely proud of her. So, I genuinely appreciate how difficult it can be sometimes, but I also know that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

My background is in the legal profession, as a qualified solicitor specialising in all things corporate and commercial. I’ve worked on high value corporate deals, large property portfolios and complex contracts. I love the detail and I pride myself on giving practical advice – even if it’s difficult for clients to hear sometimes! When working with me, you also get the benefit of my professional background and attention to detail.

If you’d like to work with me...

I would really love to hear from you.

As a compassionate and ethical dog trainer and dog behaviourist you can be confident that I can support both you and your dog. You can be 100% certain that I’ll always use kind, positive and effective methods – that’s a promise.
